GOD OF WAR 4 officially announced by Sony with a teaser trailer and box art!

After months of speculation, Sony has officially revealed that there will indeed be a fourth console installment in the GOD OF WAR series exclusively for the Playstation 3. This title is not a sequel to GOD OD WAR 3 however, and will instead be a prequel titled GOD OF WAR: ASCENSION telling the tale of how Kratos became the bad ass we all know him as.

You can already pre-order GOD OF WAR: ASCENSION on Amazon which carries the following tag line for the game:

Join Kratos as he seeks freedom, redemption, and the clarity to avenge his family in the most ambitious God of War adventure in the series so far.

While this teaser has no game play in it, game director Todd Papy tells us to keep an eye on GOD OF WAR: ASCENSION on facebook for a live-streaming event on Monday April 30th at 8am Pacific Time.

GOD OF WAR: ASCENSION is scheduled for a Spring 2013 release. More details as they emerge.
