Last year CD Projekt Red‘s THE WITCHER 2: ASSASSINS OF KINGS was one of the best games of last year, certainly one of the best role-playing games (RPGs) of last year, but it may have flown under the radar for some people.

This year that’s a different story and CD Projekt Red have a brand new game.

CD Projekt Red, who developed THE WITCHER franchise and is developing CYBERPUNK 2077, brought new trailers, gameplay footage and demos of its latest project, THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT,  to this year’s E3 and it’s safe to say that this game is on everyone’s radar — and for good reason. Check out the trailer below if you haven’t seen the E3 trailer for this game yet.

THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT is visually stunning, at first glance it grabs you and never lets go, you are engulfed, captured by its viking fantasy ambiance, and that’s just the start. For someone whose has never played THE WITCHER franchise this may seem like your typical SKYRIM, or insert any other fantasy RPG game here, knock off but it is much more than that.

From what has been shown at E3, this game not only looks like one of the best games to be coming out on next-generation consoles, but a game that pushes the boundaries of what can be accomplished in the RPG genre. THE WITCHER 3 is going to be a huge game that takes advantage of a non-linear story approach that pushes players to explore the games vast world and be an active participant in events that will unfold throughout the course of its narrative.

Players will assume the role of the protagonist Geralt of Rivia, A.K.A The Witcher, who lives in a region called Nilfgaard, which is an area that is subjected to turbulent times. Geralt has witcher abilities which he takes advantage of to kill magical monsters and beasts that roam the lands.

This game is certainly at the top of my list of games that I want to play next-generation and I’m excited to see new trailers and information come out as its release date nears.

THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC in 2014.
