DISHONORED 2 / Bethesda
Hot off the heels of EA’s E3 2016 Press Conference earlier today, Bethesda takes center stage to show off all their latest projects. While this can be called a Bethesda press conference, I feel like it was mostly the DISHONORED 2 party hour! Am I right (high fives nobody…).
First, let’s talk about everything that wasn’t DISHONORED 2. PC gamers can rejoice because QUAKE CHAMPIONS was officially announced via a cinematic teaser trailer reminding us all of the fast-paced mayhem the franchise is known for. Since I’m not a huge PC gamer and I am knee deep in FPS’ at the moment, I am not titillated. Yes I just said titillated. Deal with it.
Next we spend some time learning about a cool looking digital card game (yeesh) called THE ELDER SCROLLS LEGENDS. It’s a free to play game and is now open to beta testing for those wily enough to register on Bethesda.net. I fear I am not, but I may be!? But I probably won’t because Qwent. Yes…Qwent.
We then revisit the FALLOUT 4 universe where a bunch of new enhancements are about to be added called “Work Shops”. New contraptions, vehicles, vault building, and theme park building (?) add ons are on their way making an already amazing game even amazinger. I made that word up. Use it. It”s free. Their popular mobile game FALLOUT SHELTER is also getting some new updates in the near future. Amazingerer…ok that was too far. Sorry. So yeah, FALLOUT is cool.
And the rumors were true, there actually will be a remaster of SKYRIM and Bethesda showed off some footage comparing the last gen versions to the new gen version. And yes, the upgrades are enough for me to revisit this game. Looks rock solid. It’s due out October 28th 2016. Sweet.
And while PREY 2 has been rumored for about 47 years, it appears they dropped the “2” and now it’s just called PREY and it looks like it has absolutely nothing to do with the original game. Interesting because I don’t think people are clamoring for more PREY and they could have just called this game anything they wanted. The cinematic they showed was cool however but I still have no idea what this game is yet.
DOOM is going to get some Free updates as well as their first DLC multiplayer pack very soon. And the first level of DOOM is free to download this week only for those on the fence. THE ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE is also about to release their DARK BROTHERHOOD DLC that look great if I played that game…I would love to dive into this world and what I say in this presentation may finally push me over the edge. They also announced something called ‘One Tamriel’ that allows new player to just jump in and have the entire world open to them allowing them to play with whomever they want with no restrictions. A big deal in MMORPG’s if I do say so myself.
And for those thirsty for a fresh heart attack, Bethesda announced BETHESDA VR which stands for “Virtual Reality” of course. They are making DOOM and FALLOUT 4 available first and even playable to those in attendance. And holy crap visiting hell in DOOM in virtual reality sounds terrifying as…well hell…wait it IS hell…I’m confused.
And lastly, we spend a shit load of time with DISHONORED 2. And rightfully so because it is due out for release this year on November 11th 2016. The game uses the new ‘Void Engine” and looks absolutely stunning. Light, movement, textures, landscapes, character models, and the action all look top notch. This is going to be a game to own for sure. Just beautiful. The gameplay footage showed off here looked like a finished game and I simply cannot wait to explore this beautiful world. Highlight of the presentation for sure.
