Sure AMC aired the pilot episode of their hit show THE WALKING DEAD in black and white awhile back, but you don’t remember that do you? Well, it looks like they are giving us nerds one more chance to check out the pilot in the franchise’s original visual aesthetic along with the rest of season 1’s episodes (6 total) and half of season 2’s episodes (6 more). Sounds pretty cool to me.
This reminds me of the 2-disc collector’s edition DVD/Blu-Ray release of Frank Darabont’s THE MIST that featured the original (color) version of the film along with a cool black and white version of the film in which it was originally conceived. THE MIST in black and white was a huge success to me and really brought home the vibe and tone I enjoyed from some older horror flicks. While I’m not 100% sure this will work great for THE WALKING DEAD, I’ll sure give it a chance. Hopefully these black and white episodes will show up on a Blu-Ray release down the line.
