Sony Pictures, MGM Studios, and EON Productions recently held a press conference in London to officially announce the title of the new James Bond film as well as the welcome announcement that the film has started production!
Director Sam Mendes (ROAD TO PERDITION) and star Daniel Craig (COWBOYS & ALIENS) were there along with other cast members for the announcements. The overall cast for this film is simply amazing. Besides Craig, we have Judi Dench (THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK) back as M, French actress and new Bond-girl Bérénice Marlohe, Ben Whishsaw (LAYER CAKE), Ralph Fiennes (HARRY POTTER Series), Albert Finney (BIG FISH), Naomie Harris (MIAMI VICE) and Javier Bardem (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN). Besides the official title of the film being called SKYFALL, little else was revealed about the plot and direction of the movie besides this small synopsis:
“Bond’s loyalty to M is tested to the full as her past comes back to haunt her. As M16 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.”
It was also revealed that this new installment would not be connected to the previous two films in the series CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE. While there is still much to speculate, it is pretty awesome to finally know that Bond will be back and sooner rather than later.
SKYFALL will be released November 9th 2012.
