PROJECT OCTOPATH TRAVELER is a completely ridiculous name for a video game. Luckily it’s just a working title, but with its planned 2018 release approaching, Square Enix should probably just pick a damn name already.
Poor name choices aside, this game looks absolutely stunning. It’s a turn-based RPG that boasts what Square Enix is calling HD-2D graphics blending nostalgic pixel graphics with current generation technology. The result is pretty jaw-dropping.
The trailer above was released just moments after the September edition of Nintendo Direct. And while I’ve had my eye on this game for quite awhile, I’ve never been more excited about it than while I was watching this trailer. A classic RPG from Square Enix on the Nintendo Switch? I’m sold.
PROJECT OCTOPATH TRAVELER is slated for a 2018 release.
