J.J. Abrams back for STAR TREK 2!

According to Vulture, it looks like J.J. Abrams (STAR TREK, SUPER 8) has officially committed to directing STAR TREK 2 (tentative title). It looks like Abrams and writers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof will have a script ready sometime this winter with a planned release for either X-Mas 2012 or the 2013 summer blockbuster season.

While this may be no big surprise since many nerds likely assumed Abrams would be back, it is good to actually hear some official news. I for one think that anything Abrams touches turns to gold and I will eagerly anticipate the release of STAR TREK 2. I’m just going to have to revisit Abrams first STAR TREK on Blu-Ray to tide me over!
