Whenever director Guillermo del Toro is sitting in the director’s chair, it’s a good idea to pay close attention. I mean come on, the dude is responsible for BLADE 2, HELLBOY, HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY, PAN’S LABYRINTH, PACIFIC RIM, and CRIMSON PEAK. SO yeah, I’m pretty damn excited about del Toro’s upcoming THE SHAPE OF WATER.

From master story teller, Guillermo del Toro, comes THE SHAPE OF WATER Рan other-worldly fairy tale, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1963. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of silence and isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment. Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg and Doug Jones.

Obvious comparisons to HELLBOY’s Abe Sapien aside, this looks damn fantastic. The trailer is a bit too spoilery for my liking, but it will get my ass to the theaters nonetheless.

THE SHAPE OF WATER surfaces December 8th, 2017.
