Good news for all you INDIANA JONES fans out there. Paramount has officially announced that the entire series will be coming to the Blu-Ray home video format this fall. No official release date has been revealed yet. No official disc specs, bonus features, or box art have been revealed yet either. But we do get a somewhat vague press release from Paramount assuring us that the set is coming soon.
Paramount: “The man with the hat is back – and looking better than ever! The world’s favorite globe-trotting archaeologist is, at long last, embarking on his greatest adventure – when The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection comes to Blu-ray Disc from Lucasfilm Ltd. and Paramount Home Media Distribution. The Complete Indiana Jones Blu-ray Collection will be excavated in the fall of 2012 and will include all four of Indy’s thrilling adventures, using the highest possible high definition picture and audio presentation – along with a “best of” collection of documentaries, interviews, featurettes and a few new surprises.”
Paramount is calling the set THE COMPLETE INDIANA JONES BLU-RAY COLLECTION leading one to believe that this will be available only as a boxed set rather than each film sold individually. This is somewhat upsetting because it is still possible that another Indy adventure is in store for us. I would have to buy a “complete collection” box set only to have another film come out to screw with my OCD. Basically, I hope buyers have the option to get this individually at some point. And while I loved it, I know a lot of you butt hurt fans out there don’t really want KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL included and would rather just own the first 3 films in the series. Just give us choices Paramount.
You can be sure to check back and get more details as they emerge. Just be glad this beloved and classic franchise is getting the HD treatment.
