Thanks to Joblo.com and HitFix.com I just discovered that the new Darren Aronofsky Wolverine adaptation will simply be titled THE WOLVERINE.
Aronofsky has been quoted as saying that he wants to separate his version of Wolverine from the rest of the pack including the 2009 crapfest that was Gavin Hood’s X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. While I like the fact that Cyclops had a cool and very unexpected cameo in that movie, I do admit the rest was poopy stink!
THE WOLVERINE will still star Wolverine regular Hugh Jackman (sweet) and will chronicle Logan’s time in Japan as told in the 1980’s Chris Claremont/Frank Miller mini-series.
I for one am gong to allow myself to be excited for this one even though past Wolverine efforts (X-Men ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, X-MEN 3: THE LAST STAND) have been less than awesome. Between having a new capable director and a new fresh focus, I think this one is now worthy of my nerd radar. Let’s just hope we get that R rating we all so desperately want (need?).
Filming on THE WOLVERINE is slated for March of next year.
