It has been officially announced that New Line cinema will reboot the live action MORTAL KOMBAT film series with director Kevin Tancharoen (FAME). Tancharoen was the man who directed the viral video MORTAL KOMBAT: REBIRTH (below thanks to IGN.com) to prove to studios that there was still life left in Mortal Kombat as a film franchise. The video was so popular that it spawned a 10 part web video series called MORTAL KOMBAT: LEGACY that can all be seen via an official youtube channel HERE. You can also purchase MORTAL KOMBAT: LEGACY on Blu-Ray if you want to see it all in glorious HD! Amazon has it for pretty cheap right HERE.
No official cast has been hired yet and no official plot has been revealed. It has been stated that the reboot will NOT continue where the web series left off and will be a completely new reboot. There is also not official release date announced. I will post details as the become available.
