According to Hitfix.com Mike Myers has officially signed on for a fourth Austin Powers movie! Details are very sparse at the moment besides the fact that this is going to happen. No details about the script or who is going to direct this has been announced. The first Austin Powers movie came to us back in 1997 with two sequels that arrived in 1999 and 2002. Yep, it’s been almost 10 years since the third movie ate babies in theaters. Besides those films, we really have not seen much from Myers except a few bit parts (INGLORIOUS BASTERDS), as the voice of Shrek, and in 2008’s borderline embarrassing THE LOVE GURU. It will be nice to see Myers back in a role that he has perfected.
Austin Powers is one of those rare gems of a character that ends up being quoted and mimicked so much that people often forget just how amazingly awesome the character and his movies are. I would also clump Ace Ventura and Napoleon Dynamite in that category. Seriously folks, if you have not re-watched the original Austin Powers movie recently do yourself a favor and watch it again. Comedy gold!
