Sony, along with developer SuperBot Entertainment, has officially announced the existence of PLAYSTATION ALL-STARS BATTLE ROYALE which has previously been referred to as TITLE FIGHT. Let me first get his out of the way; yes, this is a blatant rip-off of Nintendo’s very own SMASH BROS. franchise and is a fighting game pitting Sony’s most favorite mascots against one another. Now before we all go on a nerd rampage, I want you to consider the possibility that this game could still be really cool and it is possible that Nintendo has paved the way for a whole new amazing genre of fighting games. While I want to piss and moan that this is just a copycat game, the nerd inside of me thinks it is still pretty damn cool. That said, on with the details.
Little is known at the moment besides the game officially existing and the brand new official logo pictured above. Besides that, here are a few highlights:
-So far, the preliminary roster includes Fat Princess, Parappa the Rapper, Sly Cooper, Sweet Tooth (TWISTED METAL), Colonel Radec (KILLZONE), and Kratos (GOD OF WAR). More characters will be announced soon and you can bet your sweet ass that mainstays such as Jak and Daxter, Ratchet and Clank, and Drake from the UNCHARTED series will be included among many others.
-Each level consists of elements from two different Playstation games. An example being a level featuring a location from the JAK AND DAXTER series blended with the layout of a HOT SHOTS golf course.
-The game can be played locally OR online with up to four players and there is promise of a robust single player campaign mode.
-PLAYSTATION ALL-STARS BATTLE ROYALE can be expected to hit store shelves this holiday season 2012.
