UPDATE: Thanks to Kotaku.com I just learned that X-MEN ARCADE will be released on the PS3 a day earlier on December 14th 2010 and both X-Box and PS3 will sell the game for $9.99/800 Microsoft points. I will still be buying this bad boy on X-Box 360 and next Wednesday can’t come soon enough! OPTIC BLAST!

Thanks to IGN.com I have just learned that Konamiwill be releasing X-MEN ARCADE to the X-Box 360 marketplace on Wednesday December 15th for digital download. No details just yet as to how much the game will cost (assuming $10). While it has been announced for PS3, there is no release window yet for that system. X-MEN ARCADE is a re-release to the popular 1992 arcade tittle. On X-BOX 360 it will feature 4-player local support, 6-player online support, and drop-in drop-out multiplayer options. This port will also feature HD menus and online leaderboards. Besides that, this game will come in all of it’s original glory except for newly recorded voice work for the cast of characters due to licensing issues.

X-MEN ARCADE is a dream come true for me. I fed countless quarters into the arcade machine playing this as a kid (along with THE SIMPSONS and TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES) and will no doubt play this one for hours on end at home. All my life I have been wanting to own this game but have never been able to afford the arcade cabinet itself. Playing on X-Box 360 with friends and earning achievements while doing so is a welcome alternative. So join me next Wednesday to relive this classic arcade game with Cyclops, Colossus, Dazzler, Nightcrawler, Storm and Wolverine.

I call Cyclops!
