Patience is a virtue. The wait will be worth it. Give them time to make the best game possible.
These are the things I need to keep reminding myself when it comes to the release of SHENMUE 3. A recent update via the game’s Kickstarter campaign page revealed yet another delay in this highly anticipated game.
Announcement by Deep Silver (Publisher):
“Deep Silver today announces that their upcoming release Shenmue III has been moved and will now release in 2019. The extra time will be used to polish the quality of the game even further, to the high standards it deserves and release the product in the best possible timeframe.”
Comment by Yu Suzuki (Game Director and Writer):
To all of our backers, we are very sorry for the delay. After much discussion with our partners, Deep Silver, we have concluded that extending the release will allow us to deliver Shenmue III at its best. We promise to use this time to improve the quality of Shenmue III.
We cannot thank you enough for your enduring support.
Game delays are pretty typical across the board, and Kickstart projects are famous for not delivering during their expected release date. Luckily the SHENMUE 3 team has been giving fans regular updates on their progress.
At least we have the upcoming SHENMUE 1 & 2 HD Collection to look forward to. More than enough to make the wait more bearable.
SHENMUE 3 is set to release sometime in 2019. I’m sure more will be revealed as we get closer to E3 2019.
