Is anyone out there interested in the upcoming ROBOCOP reboot set to hit theaters February 7th 2014!? I know I am (with a little hesitation of course), but I also know a lot of fanboys (and girls) out there are already deciding it’s gonna be crap based on what little we know and have seen (if you attended the recent San Diego Comic Con) of the soon-to-be film. Well, if you are one of the many who have already made up your mind, fear not because BOOM! STUDIOS recently bought up the comic book rights to the franchise and is going to be putting out a series purists and long time fans alike will want to see!

The new series is titled ROBOCOP: THE LAST STAND and is a adaptation of an unused Frank Miller (SIN CITY) script for ROBOCOP 3 chronicling the hero’s last days. Check out the official plot synopsis below to get an idea what we are dealing with here:

Frank Miller’s incredible unproduced screenplay has been brought to life in this hardhitting Steven Grant (2 GUNS, PUNISHER: CIRCLE OF BLOOD) penned adaptation. With all the brains, guts, and bullets that made the first film an instant classic, this is a comic event not to miss. The police force has disbanded. The people of Detroit have been evicted from their homes. ED209s and OCP officers run the streets. With OCP’s vision for Delta City well underway, Robocop may be his city’s last hope. This is Robocop’s last stand, as it was always intended to be.

This looks like a promising and potentially fun ROBOCOP project that could be just what fans have hungered for.

ROBOCOP: THE LAST STAND is on store shelves now and will run for a planned 8-issues. Dead or alive, this new ROBOCOP comic book is coming home with me. Yeah, I just went there…
