JACK REACHER directed by Christopher McQuarrie (THE WAY OF THE GUN) is the latest Tom Cruise (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL) vehicle and is based on a very popular novel series written by Lee Child. In anticipation for this new movie (and possible series), I picked up the first “Jack Reacher” novel by Child titled KILLING FLOOR and it is incredibly awesome! Reacher is an ex-military investigator who basically just roams the streets, helps those in need, and ruthlessly kicks anyone’s ass that gets in his way. Very cool stuff. After reading the book, I can think of no other actor that can match the intensity and commitment Cruise has to offer. Believe me people, this movie is going to be great!

As of now, there are 17 books in the “Jack Reacher” series with an 18th on its way in August of 2012. JACK REACHER is based on the 9th book in the series titled ONE SHOT. While the purist in me has to read all the novels in the order they were released, I have heard that readers can jump in at any point and not skip a beat since each novel is mostly self contained. Think of it more or less like a James Bond or Dirty Harry movie. To give you an idea of what to expect in this film, check out the books plot synopsis:

Six shots. Five dead. One heartland city thrown into a state of terror. But within hours the cops have it solved: a slam-dunk case. Except for one thing. The accused man says: You got the wrong guy. Then he says: Get Reacher for me. And sure enough, from the world he lives in—no phone, no address, no commitments–ex–military investigator Jack Reacher is coming. In Lee Child’s astonishing new thriller, Reacher’s arrival will change everything—about a case that isn’t what it seems, about lives tangled in baffling ways, about a killer who missed one shot–and by doing so give Jack Reacher one shot at the truth.…

Yes! This looks so fantastic to me and I simply cannot wait. I make it no secret that Tom Cruise is by far my favorite actor and he is going to shine in JACK REACHER. It’s safe to say Cruise has already proved himself as a bad ass in movies such as the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE series and COLLATERAL to name a few.

JACK REACHER hits theaters in the face on December 21st 2012.
