THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD / Nintendo

Now that EA, Bethesda, Microsoft, Ubisoft, and Sony have had their E3 2016 press conferences, it’s Nintendo’s turn to shine. Today Nintendo officially announced that the newest Zelda game coming to the Wii U and the illusive NX will be called THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD. The announcement was accompanied by a lengthy trailer featuring our biggest look yet at the beautiful world we will get to explore.

Let me just say my jaw was dropped and I was drooling throughout this entire trailer. BREATH OF THE WILD looks like such and amazingly vast and beautiful ZELDA game. While it had nods to games of the past and a very SKYWARD SWORD aesthetic, BREATH OF THE WILD looks like a truly unique entry in the franchise with a lot of new elements.

The most notable difference is the open world approach. Sure some of the past ZELDA games let you explore large landscapes, but not like this. This time around, it seems as if you need to survive in the wild, fend for yourself, and the options you have for exploring are much more open ended. Link is seen running through endless fields, cooking up food, climbing huge mountain sides, trying on new clothes, taming horses, gliding through the open air, Setting up traps, cutting down trees, and even battling bosses in the great wide open. Hot damn and I going to lose man many hours of my life and sleep schedule when this game finally releases.

No official release date has been given yet, but Nintendo may still have more in store for THE LEGEND OF ZELDA: BREATH OF THE WILD as E3 continues this week. Bring on a collector’s edition too!
