Ah, it’s that rare time of year when I get really excited for a sporting event. I admit, I don’t really like sports, but every time the Super Bowl rolls around I get all giddy inside. No, not because of the game itself, or Lady Gaga’s halftime performance, but for all those sweet movie trailers! Those sweet sweet less-than-a-minute movie nuggets that are jam packed with awesome footage that get my gears going every year. Yes my friends, I love the Super Bowl because of the movie trailers. And this year we got same pretty amazing teases. Let’s take a look.

GHOST IN THE SHELL (March 31st)

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 (May 5th)

JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 (February 10th)

LOGAN (March 3rd)

THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS (April 14th)

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES (May 26th)

TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT (June 23rd)

It looks like we’re in store for some major nerdgasms this year. While I’m not 100% convinced we need a live-action GHOST IN THE SHELL film, it does look true to the source material and sports (see what I did there) some truly amazing visuals. And come on people, Scarlett Johansson looks bad ass! Give her a damn break. GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 looks perfect just like the original. GUARDIANS is hands down the best marvel film franchise and I can’t wait to go on another adventure. The new villain looks cool, the action looks intense, this tease had me laughing, and it’s great to see the whole gang back together. JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 is upon us THIS WEEK! Seeing Neo and Morpheus back together again is pure gold! Best action franchise in years! We’ve covered LOGAN quite a bit. This new tease doesn’t give us much more but continues to impress nonetheless. THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS looks as bonkers as ever. At this point I just expect balls-to-the-wall insane and completely unrealistic action sequences. And I’m just fine with that. It’s the best campy action franchise we’ve got at the moment. Im guessing I’m probably in the minority here, but the new PIRATES movie looks pretty fun. Yes the 3rd and 4th entry in this long-running series were a bit off-putting, but I’m willing to give it another go and see what’s next for Jack Sparrow and his crew. And finally the 5th, and Michael Bay’s last, entry in the TRANSFORMERS series. As always I’m not too sure what the hell is ever going on, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say this looks really cool. I just wish people would stop complaining about this series and enjoy it for what it is…a mindless big budget science fiction explosion-fest filled with hulking robots beating the living shit out of each other. What’s wrong with that again?

All said and done, we got a great crop of teases this weekend. And I absolutely can’t wait to check out each and every one of the films listed above. The best part is, JOHN WICK: CHAPTER 2 kicks things off this weekend! See you at the movies!
