If you are anything like me you really want to see a sequel to this past summer’s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS directed by the awesome Matthew Vaughn (KICK-ASS, STARDUST). Even though it did not star Cyclops, I found myself giddy with love for this fresh new take on the film franchise. You can read my full review HERE. According to sources at Superhero Hype, Simon Kinberg (SHERLOCK HOLMES, JUMPER) has been hired to write the script for the sequel. While this does not ensure a sequel 100%, it does look like a step in the right direction.
Personally I hope X-MEN: FIRST CLASS was a complete restart for the series. I realize that there were many references to past X-Men films, but I am wishing that those references were only placed to add familiarity to audiences who enjoyed previous installments. I would like to look at the “First Class” movies as a familiar reboot that will hopefully not be afraid to reintroduce popular characters such as Cyclops and Storm. We did get to see them briefly in FIRST CLASS in a short but sweet scene involving Cerebro.
You can bet your nerd ass that I will have ANY new details regarding an X-MEN: FIRST CLASS sequel as they surface. OPTIC BLAST!!
