While it’s no surprise, it’s good to know there is another MORTAL KOMBAT game on the horizon. 2011’s reboot of sorts simply called MORTAL KOMBAT was a breath of refreshed air for the series and introduced the perfect marriage of old school goodness with new school mechanics. Most notably, I enjoyed the bone crushing x-ray attacks that let players see what’s going on inside these warriors’ bodies whilst they pummel each other.

Warner Bros. has officially announced the new title will be called MORTAL KOMBAT X and will be available on PS3, PS4, X-Box 360, XBOX ONE, and PC. And call me crazy, but it’s a little disenchanting when I see that a brand new game is available across both generations of gaming consoles. I paid good money to experience the next level of gaming with my PS4 and XBOX ONE, and I don’t want mere upgrated versions of last generation games. I know, I know, I must be patient. In my experience, it is not until the 1 or 2 year mark of a console that the true gems begin to surface. Must be the Mario fan in me that got the best game for a console right off the bat.

Without further ado, here is the announcement teaser:

In any case, MORTAL KOMBAT X looks pretty stunning here. While we don’t get any real gameplay footage, we do get a good look at what a typical battle will look like. Atmosphere, weapons, interactive environments, and the return of the x-ray attacks seem to be the order of the day. ANd with E3 just around the corner, I’m sure we will be seeing more of MORTAL KOMBAT X very soon.

MORTAL KOMBAT X will “get over here” sometime in 2015.
