After seemingly every actor on the planet has been rumored to star in HBO’s second season of TRUE DETECTIVE, we have official word that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn have been officially cast in the critically acclaimed series. It was also revealed that the series will have an 8-episode run and the first two episodes will be directed by Justin Lin known for his work on the FAST & FURIOUS series.

HBO also provided a new tagline for the show along with a couple character descriptions for Farrell and Vaughn’s characters.

“Three police officers and a career criminal must navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.”

Colin Farrell as Ray Velcoro, “a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.”

Vince Vaughn as Frank Semyon, “a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”

I am sure HBO will reveal more of the cast as it is solidified and while no official release date is in place, chances are we will see Season 2 sometime this summer since the season will begin filming this Fall. Stay tuned.

What do you think? Good choices? Who do you want to see cast still?
