SUPER ULTRA DEAD RISING 3 ARCADE REMIX HYPER EDITION EX PLUS ALPHA Review

SUPER ULTRA DEAD RISING 3 ARCADE REMIX HYPER EDITION EX PLUS ALPHA is a name which is more than a mouthful, it’s straight ridiculous, and pokes at Capcom’s recent game naming follies – or genius depending on who you are. When this downloadable content for DEAD RISING 3 made its surprising trailer debut at Microsoft’s press conference back in June at E3, it was hard not to laugh due to its pin-point gaming humor and it had me very intrigued. SUPER DEAD RISING 3, as I will call it, is DLC which is catered to Capcom and DEAD...

TITANFALL + “EXPEDITION” DLC Video Game Review

The first time you call in a gigantic robot mecha, called a Titan, you’ll find yourself looking up at the sky and see a Titan rocket towards the ground, ready to be piloted and cause mayhem on the multiplayer battlefront. It’s a moment of pure excitement. I’ve roughly logged in two solid days worth of playtime into TITANFALL now, and all I can say is the experience when your Titan lands on the battlefield is still as rewarding as the first time I performed it. Though the action of calling in a Titan has become habitual, it’s still fresh and rewarding...

E3 2014: MICROSOFT Press Conference Round-Up

Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s Xbox division, stated in the opening minutes of Microsoft’s E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) press conference that this year’s presentation was going to be about “games.” It definitely wasn’t hyperbole, for 90 minutes Microsoft rolled out trailers, live game demos, game announcements, etc. that demonstrated the games which lay on the horizon for the Xbox One. Words like Xbox 360, Kinnect, Applications, and living rooms had no place at this press conference. Taking a page out of Sony’s E3 playbook from last year, Microsoft sought to appeal to the gaming community by way of game content....

DEAD RISING 3 Video Game Review

Zombies and vampires are the vogue thing in pop culture these days. Stick a few zombies or vampires in your television show or movie and a company can almost be sure to make its money back. For video games, zombies are a sure way to sell some units, but that’s not to say every zombie game is a genuinely good game. It takes a special blend of horror, survival and innovation to make a zombie game stand out. While DEAD RISING 3 may not be the zombie game to revolutionize the genre, it’s certainly a game that successfully celebrates...

RYSE: SON OF ROME Video Game Review

Ever since Crytek unvield gameplay footage of  RYSE: SON OF ROME at this year’s E3 (the Electronic Entertainment Expo) it has been the subject of confusion and criticism. Both the confusion and criticism came from the same root which took the form of a question – is RYSE going to be a game that solely relied on QTEs (quick time events) or was the footage shown just a snapshot of something bigger? Being an exclusive Xbox One launch title, Microsoft invested heavily into promoting RYSE as not only a game every gamer would want to get their hands on, but...

BATMAN: ARKHAM ORIGINS Video Game Review

Reviewed for the X-Box 360 version of the game. When people talk about comic book superheroes, one name that’s always brought up is Batman – and that’s for good reason. Batman is easily one of the most interesting superheroes that not only challenges what the definition of “superhero” is but what narratives can be told through the comic book media. The word comic book is synonymous with Batman and…”cough”…that son of Krypton. So who wouldn’t want to be the Batman? It’s a question the Arkham series is built around because lets face it, would you give up a chance...

GRAND THEFT AUTO V Video Game Review

Whenever Rockstar releases a video game the gaming world takes notice, that’s especially true when the game being released is an entry in the GRAND THEFT AUTO (GTA) series. Few games get as much hype around its release than GTA does which made GTA V’s launch day feel more like a pop culture event rather than just another game coming out – and that’s for good reason. Rockstar is a developer notorious for the superb quality of games that it releases, GTA IV and RED DEAD REDEMPTION are arguably the best games its ever developed, which puts Rockstar under pressure to...

This year that’s a different story and CD Projekt Red have a brand new game. THIEF is a re-imagination of the original game of the same name developed by Eidos Studios, the studio behind the latest TOMB RAIDER  installment and DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION, and published by Square Enix. In this game players assume the role of Garrett who is a master thief who lives in a world where the rich prosper and the weak struggle. Players will have the liberty to choose how they act throughout the game — actions like stealing from the rich or the poor are at each players discretion. Garrett, in this sense, is a bit of an anti-hero...
