The A-Team on DVD/Blu-Ray Today

Today we get yet another awesome DVD/Blu-Ray release with the Joe Carnahan (NARC, SMOKIN’ ACES) directed summer blockbuster THE A-TEAM. The film stars the bad-ass Liam Neeson (STAR WARS EPISODE 1: THE PHANTOM MENACE, BATMAN BEGINS), Bradley Cooper (THE HANGOVER, WEDDING CRASHERS), Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson (UFC fighter turned actor) and the amazing Sharlto Copley who we last saw in the sleeper hit DISTRICT 9. Those awesome actors play Hannibal, Face, B.A. Baracus, and Mad Murdock respectively who create the A-TEAM after being framed for a crime they did not commit and now must find a way to clear their...

Movie Trailer: Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides

Thanks to JOBLO we get our first look at the Rob Marshall (CHICAGO, MEMOIRS OF A GEISHA) directed Summer movie PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES. This is the fourth PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movie and this time around we follow Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp (EDWARD SCISSORHANDS, SLEEPY HOLLOW), on his quest to find the legendary Fountain of Youth. Are any of you still interested in a new PIRATES movie starring Johnny Depp? I have to admit I am a bit skeptical of this one and fear it is just a cash grab from Disney,...

Movie Trailer: Kill The Irishman

This trailer for the movie KILL THE IRISHMAN seems to have come out of nowhere and looks pretty damn cool. I have never heard of it before and I am quite surprised considering the talent behind this film. KILL THE IRISHMAN comes from writer/director Jonathan Hensleigh who you may not have heard of, but I’m sure you have seen a movie or two he has written. Some of his writing credits include DIE HARD: WITH A VENGEANCE, JUMANJI, and ARMAGEDDON. He has only directed one movie thus far and it was the 2004 Marvel film THE PUNISHER starring Thomas Jane....

Thanks to YAHOO MOVIES we have our first official look at THOR the newest Marvel movie leading up to the 2012 movie event THE AVENGERS that will combine IRON MAN, CAPTAIN AMERICA, HULK, and THOR movie franchises together to create the worlds largest collective nerdgasm ever. THOR comes to us from actor/director Kenneth Branagh (HENRY V, WILD WILD WEST) and stars newcomer Chris Hemsworth (STAR TREK, A PERFECT GETAWAY) as the son of Odin himself. This trailer is full of awesomeness and has definitely been put on my superhero nerd radar well above DC’s summer effort GREEN LANTERN. Seriously,...

TRANSFORMERS: THE DARK OF THE MOON comes out July 1st 2011....

New Poster for THOR

This new poster for THOR looks pretty bad ass if you ask me. It is rare that I want to own a movie poster when I see one, but this may be one of those exceptions. Very cool. The simple colors and lack of a huge title set this apart from the rest. THOR comes to us from actor turned director Kenneth Branagh (HENRY V, WILD WILD WEST) and stars newcomer Chris Hemsworth (STAR TREK, A PERFECT GETAWAY) as our hero. Hopefully this will be followed up by a teaser or trailer in the near future. I don’t know...

Inception on DVD and Blu-Ray Today

Today we get the highly anticipated release of the Christopher Nolan (THE DARK KNIGHT, MEMENTO) film INCEPTION that he both wrote and directed. The film has an all-star cast that includes the always awesome Leonardo DiCaprio (TITANIC, THE BEACH) and one of my favorite actors today Joseph Gordon-Levitt (G.I. JOE: RISE OF THE COBRA, BRICK). INCEPTION is something I think everyone should see this year if they have not yet. It will easily make my top ten for the year and may possibly be number one. This is a fantastic science fiction tale about the many layers of a...

Movie Trailer: The Beaver

Check out the trailer below for the Jodie Foster (THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, CONTACT) directed movie THE BEAVER. This film stars MEL GIBSON (LETHAL WEAPON SERIES, BRAVEHEART) as a once successful executive for a toy company who has lost sight of the importance of his family. Now suffering from depression he finds a stuffed beaver in a dumpster and uses it as his sole means of communicating (in a cockney accent nonetheless). THE BEAVER co-stars Jodie Foster who reunites with Gibson who she starred with in the movie MAVERICK back in 1994. Also co-starring is the young up-and-coming...

Video Game Preview: Marvel vs Capcom 3

UPDATED ON: 1/28/2011 Capcom will soon be releasing their third entry in the MARVEL VS CAPCOM series to X-Box 360 and Playstation 3 home consoles. This is the first entry in the series that is exclusive to consoles and is not based on an arcade game. Fans of the MARVEL VS CAPCOM series have waited patiently for 10 years for this sequel to be born, and by the looks of it, it will have been well worth the wait. MARVEL VS CAPCOM 3: FATE OF TWO WORLDS is the first in the series to utilize 3-D graphics but it...

Knight and Day on DVD and Blu-Ray Today

Today marks the release of the highly under appreciated film KNIGHT AND DAY directed by James Mangold (3:10 TO YUMA, WALK THE LINE) that stars Tom Cruise (MISSION IMPOSSIBLE SERIES, VANILLA SKY) and Cameron Diaz (THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY, VANILLA SKY). KNIGHT AND DAY will easily be placed in my top 10 movies of 2010. This is what going to the movies is all about. Cruise plays a super-spy on the run after he discovers he was not meant to survive his latest mission. Diaz crosses paths with him and thinks she has found Mr. Right. Before you know it, they are both trotting...

R.I.P Leslie Nielsen

Comedy Legend Leslie Nielsen passed away today at the age of 84. A family statement said Nielsen passed in his sleep surrounded by friends and family in a Ft. Lauderdale Florida hospital near his home due to complications with pneumonia. I have been a life-long fan of Nielsen’s comedy. Nielsen began his comedy career in the 1980 hit AIRPLANE! after almost 30 years of dramatic acting roles. He is likely most remembered for his role as Lt. Frank Drebin in POLICE SQUAD! and THE NAKED GUN series. His trademark ability to maintain a deadpan expression while delivering his punchlines...

Movie Trailer: Unknown

Here is the first trailer and official poster for the movie UNKNOWN from the relatively unknown director Jaume Collet-Serra (HOUSE OF WAX, ORPHAN). Here we see Lian Neeson (STAR WARS: EPISODE I – THE PHANTOM MENACE, BATMAN BEGINS) in a role that appears to be in the vain of 2008’s TAKEN where we see a more bad ass side of Neeson, as if being a Jedi and training Batman was not bad ass enough. I am a big fan of Neeson in TAKEN and I am glad to see him in roles where he is realistically kicking some major...

Movie Review: Faster

Finally Dwayne Johnson aka “The Rock” (THE RUNDOWN, WALKING TALL) is where he belongs here in FASTER, an old-school action flick by the relatively unknown director George Tillman Jr. (NOTORIOUS, MEN OF HONOR). While this may not be the high powered return to action that many fans have been yearning for, it sure is one hell of a good start. Dwayne Johnson is a bad ass and deserves to be in more movies like this one. He is likable, emotes a lot better than most of my 80’s action favorites, and from what the ladies tell me, he’s quite...

Netflix Raises Prices in January

Starting January 2011 Netflix will be raising their prices by about a dollar for every disc you want to have out at a time, and that includes the online streaming service that actually does have some great choices. I personally have been on the $8.99 a month plan which will now be going up to $9.99 a month instead. I also have the optional Blu-Ray upgrade which costs an additional $2.00 a month, so in all I will be spending $12.99 in total per month. I know what your thinking…I’m really great at math right! All kidding aside, I...

The Expendables on DVD and Blu-Ray Today

THE EXPENDABLES from director/star Sylvester Stallone (ROCKY BALBOA, RAMBO) comes out today on DVD and Blu-Ray. If you missed this one in theatres than you owe it to yourself to finally catch up and see this awesome 80’s action reunion for yourself. I saw it opening night with all my dude friends when it came out last summer and had an absolute blast. The story may not be the best, but it does well enough to properly set up the action and give each character their moment to shine. We have Stallone, Statham, Li, Lundgren, Couture, Austin, Crews, Rourke,...

Movie Review: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1

HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART 1 is the 7th movie in the blockbuster hit franchise and is based on the first half of the 7th novel written by J.K. Rowling, who is likely richer than Oprah at this point. One could say she is “Rowling” in the dough! Alright, now that my allotted (one) amount of bad puns are spent, let us get on with the review! The newest Potter adventure comes to us by returning director David Yates who also directed HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX, and HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE....

Hidden Gems: SKINS Seasons 1-3

SKINS is a British teenage drama that was created by Bryan Elsley and Jamie Brittain, who also happen to be father and son. While SKINS can be classified as a teenage drama, it is so much more than that and does not deserve to be brushed off as just a British 90210. Since this show was initially aired on British TV there are not nearly as many censorship issues as we have here in the states. The characters in this show curse as if they were living in DEADWOOD, fight each other to a bloody pulp, and frequently appear...
