PSP2 officially announced by Sony

Today in Japan Sony officially announced its next portable gaming system. At the moment the code name for the new system is NGP which stands for “Next Generation Portable” but in all likelihood it will be called “PSP2” if Sony’s gaming history has anything to say about it (PSONE, PS2, PS3). This new portable device has a projected release date for 2011 but no official date or pricing for the system has been revealed. Sony did say to expect it out for the 2011 holiday shopping season (likely September or November). A few new notable features include an all...

First official photo for new Thundercats cartoon!

Today we get our first “official” look at Warner Bros. new THUNDERCATS cartoon that will be airing on WB’s own Cartoon Network. The new series will air sometime in 2011, but an official date has yet to be confirmed. I consider myself a pretty big fan (not die hard) of the original series and toy line. I am excited to see this new series being developed for fans and newcomers alike. I dig the new anime inspired style that is obviously reminiscent of NARUTO. In any case I think this new pic of the main four characters (Lion-O, Panthro,...

UPDATE (1/20/11): Matthew Vaughn talks to slashfilm.com about the poorly photoshopped cast photo that leaked on the internet (I did not even humor it with a post it looked so bad) AND provided fans with a few new shots to compliment the cool cast photos posted yesterday. Today Fox Studios finally gives us a chance to see some actual shots from Matthew Vaughn’s (KICK-ASS, LAYER CAKE) upcoming film X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. Top Ten Movies of 2010

1. KICK-ASS: This was the most fun I had at the theater this year hands down. The idea of someone like you or me deciding to become a super hero without any powers or experience (other than reading a crap ton of comic books) is simply awesome! I love the world created here. This film has some of the best action scenes ever, an interesting story, amazingly eccentric characters (Nicolas Cage is in top form), and a cool soundtrack. This is why I go to the movies people! 2. INCEPTION: Christopher Nolan’s Sci-Fi Action movie is an intensely well-crafted film....

First look at Chris Evans in full Captain America Costume!

Looks like CAPTAIN AMERICA is jealous of that costume pic of SPIDER-MAN I posted earlier. Thanks to the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly we get our first look at Chris Evans (FANTASTIC FOUR, THE LOSERS) in his full CAPTAIN AMERICA costume wings and all! I was wondering how they were going to include the wings on his mask/helmet without looking too cheesy and they sure pulled it off. Instead of flappy little wings they decided to put it on a helmet instead of a mask and add it as a decal. Smart move if you ask me because it...

Bond is back in 2012!

MGM studios announced today that filming for the next installment of the JAMES BOND franchise will begin later this year with a scheduled November 9th 2012 release. The studio has been having quite a bit of trouble getting this film started and it should be a relief to hear that filming is on track and ready to begin soon. The 23rd BOND film will be directed by Sam Mendes and has no official title or Bond girl attached. Daniel Craig and Dame Judi Dench are the only official actors on board playing James Bond himself and M. While the...

Top 5 actors who get MORE bad ass with age

1. Jeff Bridges, Age: 61 Why he WAS bad ass: KING KONG (1976), TRON, THE BIG LEBOWSKI Why his is STILL and maybe MORE bad ass: IRON MAN, CRAZY HEART, TRON: LEGACY, TRUE GRIT The past 3 years have been amazing for Jeff Bridges. Ever since he played the main villain in 2008’s IRON MAN, Bridges has been getting more and more bad ass. Seriously folks, he is a force to be reckoned with and I simply cannot wait to see what he has in store for us next. He is truly one of the greatest actors of our time....

Director found for Godzilla reboot

Thanks to Joblo.com I have learned that Legendary Pictures (who recently gained the rights to GODZILLA in 2010) has finally found their director for the upcoming GODZILLA reboot that you probably didn’t even know existed. The lucky man is Gareth Edwards who recently made his film directorial debut with the cult indie hit MONSTERS. While MONSTERS was not what I expected, I did enjoy it considering its very low budget and unknown talent. While MONSTERS did not focus on Monsters actually destroying things or fighting, it did have great character development and a real human story beneath it all....

TV Trailer: Falling Skies

If you watch a lot of TV you know that most TV shows (SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL) are at their half-way point while others (DEXTER, WALKING DEAD) have just wrapped with their final episode of the season. While those shows are considered to air “in-season” there are others (TRUE BLOOD, BREAKING BAD) that break the mold and air in the “off-season” that is usually during the summer months. TNT has decided that they want to have an “off-season” show this summer in the form of the Steven Spielberg (CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND, WAR OF THE WORLDS) produced FALLING SKIES....

TRUE GRIT Movie Review

I am so glad there has been a resurgence of the western genre (3:10 TO YUMA, DEADWOOD) and TRUE GRIT is a most welcome addition. The Coen Brothers (NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN, RAISING ARIZONA) are at it again in this remake of the 1969 John Wayne classic and they are bringing Jeff “The Dude” Bridges with them. TRUE GRIT is a wonderful character piece that stars Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn who is a veteran U.S. Marshal hired by a young woman seeking revenge upon the man who killed her father. The Coen Brothers have crafted a wonderfully...

Movie Trailer: Drive Angry

Thanks to Yahoo Movies we get the bad ass trailer for the upcoming 3D movie DRIVE ANGRY starring Nicolas Cage (RAISING ARIZONA, KICK-ASS) and directed by Patrick Lussier (MY BLOODY VALENTINE, DRACULA 2000). While I loathe the 3D trend that is polluting films today, this movie could be an exception. Why you ask? Well because this movie was actually shot in full 3D (like AVATAR) rather than most movies that tack it on in post production (like THE LAST AIRBENDER) creating a craptacular crap fest that burns my eyes and makes me want to vomit up all the bile in my...

Sam Worthington says next Clash of the Titans movie will be better and admits his first one was not so great

Recently Sam Worthington (AVATAR, TERMINATOR SALVATION) spoke to Moviefone and basically admitted that the first CLASH OF THE TITANS movie was not all that great and he has high hopes for making a better film with the announced sequel WRATH OF THE TITANS. Here is what he had to say about the films: “I just think we can improve on it. I think the first one, we kind of let down some people. And yeah, I totally agree. The only point of doing a sequel is either the audience demands it or you believe you can better the first...

THE FIGHTER Movie Review

Wow! This is one powerful movie that simply caught me off guard. It’s based on the true story of boxer “Irish” Mickie Ward who has one last shot at a boxing title before it’s too late. THE FIGHTER comes to us by director David O. Russell (I HEART HUCKABEES, THREE KINGS) and stars Mark Wahlberg (BOOGIE NIGHTS, THE DEPARTED) as Mickie and co-stars Christian Bale (THE DARK KNIGHT, EQUILIBRIUM) as his half-brother Dickie who was a boxing hero who had a chance at a title shot but succumbed to a crack addiction and is stuck in the past frequently...

TRON LEGACY Movie Review

After nearly 30 years Disney has decided to make a sequel to the 1982 classic TRON rather than a complete “reboot” and I think that was a wise and bold move on their part. I am a huge fan of the original Sci-fi classic and seeing an actual sequel is a nerd dream come true. I highly recommend watching the first TRON if you missed it or if it is not fresh in your mind. TRON: LEGACY comes to us by newcomer Joseph Kosinski in his directorial debut and he is now on my list of directors to keep...

Liam Neeson confirmed for Taken 2

This week it has been confirmed by Deadline.com that Liam Neeson (TAKEN, THE A-TEAM) will in fact be reprising his role as Bryan Mills in the sequel to TAKEN. The original movie was directed by Pierre morel (THE TRANSPORTER, UNLEASHED) and really showcased Liam Neeson as an absolute bad-ass. The movie did decent in the box office and has gained somewhat of a cult following since the DVD/Blu-Ray release last year. I am a huge fan of Neeson’s work and I especially love it when it comes out to kick some ass in awesome action movies such as TAKEN and...
