Movie Review – TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON

This summer has had it’s fair share of awesome summer blockbusters with many more still to come! TRANSFORMERS 3: DARK OF THE MOON, directed by the insanely bad ass and talented Michael Bay (THE ISLAND, ARMAGEDDON), can easily be added to that list! THIS is what going to the movies in the summer is all about people! The story is admittedly straightforward and the characters are all a bit flat but that really does not matter when it comes to a Transformers movie now does it? CITIZEN CANE this is not. Instead what we get is a surprisingly funny movie,...

THOR 2 loses Kenneth Branagh as director but gets an official release date and writer!

So there has been an awful lot of buzz surrounding the sequel to this summer’s THOR this week and I thought I’d catch everyone up to speed. The most notable bit of news is that THOR director Kenneth Branagh will NOT be returning and Marvel will soon be looking for someone to take his place. Marvel has however found a writer for the new movie named Don Payne who wrote the original THOR as well as the notable FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER and MY SUPER EX GIRLFRIEND. In other THOR news, it can be assured that both...

New MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL trailer kicks your ass!

Thanks to Yahoo Movies we have are first official look at MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL directed by Brad Bird (THE INCREDIBLES, THE IRON GIANT) and starring Tom Cruise (VANILLA SKY, WAR OF THE WORLDS and everything else awesome). This is the fourth film in the amazingly kick ass Mission Impossible franchise and seems to have a much different vibe than in previous installments. Tom Cruise is by far my favorite actor and it appears he is in top form here running and gunning all while performing his own stunts! Here is the films synopsis: “This is not just another mission. The IMF...

Movie Review: GREEN LANTERN

GREEN LANTERN comes to us from director Martin Campbell (CASINO ROYALE, EDGE OF DARKNESS) and stars the “wit-tacular” Ryan Reynolds (BLADE TRINITY, X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE) as our hero. The story, inspired by the DC comic book of the same name, centers around a young test pilot named Hal Jordan (Reynolds) who is given a ring that grants him awesome powers AND gains him access into a group of intergalactic aliens tasked to protect the universe. I am admittedly NOT a fan of the Green Lantern comic books. I don’t hate them, they just always seemed overly corny and uninteresting. That...

Movie Trailer: Killer Elite

Check out this awesome new trailer courtesy of Yahoo! Movies that came out of nowhere and kicked my skinny ass! KILLER ELITE is a bad ass looking action movie directed by first-timer Gary McKendry and stars Jason Statham (THE TRANSPORTER, THE EXPENDABLES), Clive Owen (SHOOT EM’ UP, SIN CITY), and Robert De Niro (TAXI DRIVER, RONIN). I totally dig the vibe of this high adrenaline trailer and am so glad Owen is rocking the stash. Here is the synopsis according to IMDB.com: When his mentor (Robert De Niro) is taken captive, a retired member of Britain’s Elite Special Air...

I can’t wait to see what cameos appear in this movie and I am glad this trailer does not spoil any of...

James Mangold to replace Darren Aronofsky as THE WOLVERINE director!

Back in November 2010 I reported (HERE) that none other than Darren Aronofsky (THE WRESTLER, BLACK SWAN) would be set to direct the new Wolverine movie simply called THE WOLVERINE. The movie is going to chronicle Logan’s time in Japan and is inspired by the famous 80’s comic book story written by Frank Miller (SIN CITY, 300). I could not have been happier to report that news because it meant that we were finally going to get a Wolverine movie that fans deserved with a more than competent director. But alas, I sadly reported back in March 2011 (HERE)...

Movie Review: SUPER 8

Fair WARNING to all my readers: There are minor spoilers in this review that may give insight to some of the mysteries this film holds. I highly recommend seeing this film before reading my review. Trust me when I say SUPER 8 does NOT disappoint and is well worth the price of admission.  SUPER 8 is the latest directorial achievement from creative mastermind J.J. Abrams (STAR TREK, MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3) and stars a simply wonderful cast of relatively unknown actors. SUPER 8 follows the story of a young teenager named Joe Lamb who lives in 1979 Ohio and spends...

I am a die hard LEGEND OF ZELDA fan and am overjoyed to finally get a Wii exclusive ZELDA game after all these years. TWILIGHT PRINCESS does NOT count because that was a Gamecube game given a sloppy port to the Wii. Movie Review: X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

I am extremely happy to say that the X-Men movie franchise is back and kicks all kinds of ass! X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is directed by Matthew Vaughn (KICK-ASS, STARDUST) and stars James McAvoy (WANTED, ATONEMENT) as a young Professor X, Michael Fassbender (300, CENTURION) as a young Magneto, and Kevin Bacon (TREMORS, HOLLOW MAN) as the villainous Sebastian Shaw who all share the screen with a solid supporting cast. X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is a prequel/reboot of sorts for the franchise that honors the movies from the past (even with some subtle tie-ins and fun cameos) while presenting a fresh...
