Help Save Pepe the Frog on Kickstarter!

“Before Pepe the Frog was a meme designated a hate symbol by the Anti-Defamation League, he began his life as a blissfully stoned frog in my comic book Boy’s Club where he enjoyed a simple life of snacks, soda and pulling his pants all the way down to go pee. Boy’s Club debuted in 2006, Pepe became a meme around 2010, then stuck around the internet long enough to become an institutionally recognized hate mascot. Needless to say it’s a nightmare so I killed him off. But now I’d like to bring him back, and I’d like to ask...

THE MUMMY (2017) Movie Review

Art by Mike McG THE MUMMY is way better than you think. It’s one of those films that people just love to hate before they even see the damn thing. First of all, it stars Tom Cruise. People love to hate him. Personally, I think he’s the greatest actor currently working and I think people (and you!) need to cut him some slack. Say what you will about his personal life if it makes you feel superior, but as an actor, he delivers the goods and then some. Secondly, THE MUMMY is the foundation for Universal’s new DARK UNIVERSE...

Top 5 Comic Book Picks for May 2017

1. JEAN GREY #2 / Marvel Comics Written by Dennis Hopeless / Art by Victor Ibanez This book totally took me by surprise and was hands down the most fun I had this month reading comics. I make it no secret that I’ve been pretty bored with the X-MEN books ever since Marvel’s SECRET WARS mega-event concluded. The absence of the legacy characters Cyclops, Wolverine, and Jean Grey have really hurt this book. And I’ve been less than impressed with the younger time-displaced versions of the original X-Men for over a year now. That said, Marvel has been relaunching...

E3 2017: Nintendo Announces METROID: SAMUS RETURNS

Nintendo has officially announced METROID: SAMUS RETURNS heading to the Nintendo 3DS this year on September 15th, 2017. During this year’s E3 showcase, Nintendo revealed that METROID PRIME 4 is in development for Nintendo Switch. Surprisingly, SAMUS RETURNS was not included in that showcase but later during a live-streaming event. In any case, this is great news for METROID fans like myself desperate for a proper game in the franchise starring Samus. METROID: SAMUS RETURNS is a re-imagining of METROID II: RETURN OF SAMUS which was released on the original Gameboy. It’s great to see that Nintendo is committed...

E3 2017: Nintendo Spotlight Review and Impressions

Now that all the heavy hitters including Sony, Microsoft, EA, Bethesda, and Ubisoft have shown us their goods, it’s time for Nintendo to do a very “Nintendo” thing and have a digital “showcase” rather than a proper conference like the rest of the gang. And as always, Nintendo delivers. The showcase kicked off with a solid look at XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 2 coming to the Nintendo Switch Holiday 2017. This has always been a fun franchise, and I’m glad Nintendo keeps releasing these in the US. Hopefully putting this on the Switch will get the franchise more attention. We then...

E3 2017: Ubisoft Conference Review and Impressions

With EA, Bethesda, Microsoft, and Sony conferences all said and done, that leaves us with Ubisoft. We will also cover Nintendo’s less traditional showcase next along with any other big announcements that come along. Ubisoft started very strong revealing a new team-up with Nintendo. Ubisoft’s Rabbids have infiltrated the Mushroom Kingdom and legendary developer Shigeru Miyamoto was on stage to show us all MARIO + RABBIDS: KINGDOM BATTLE coming to us exclusively for Nintendo Switch on August 29th, 2017. This is a weird little game. It’s a turn-based strategy game featuring our favorite Mario characters with blasters and an...

E3 2017: Sony Conference Review and Impressions

E3 2017: EA Conference Review and Impressions E3 2017: Bethesda Conference and Impressions E3 2017: Microsoft Conference Review and Impressions Much like EA, Microsoft, and Bethesda’s conferences so far, Sony had a good but not great showcase. There’s no denying that Sony has some amazing games coming out in 2017 and beyond, but I definitely feel as if I’ve seen most of these games already. It reminded me a lot of what we saw last year. Things kicked off strong with a meaty look at UNCHARTED: THE LOST LEGACY releasing later this year on August 22nd. There is no...

E3 2017: Bethesda Conference Review and Impressions

E3 2017: EA Conference Review and Impressions E3 2017: Microsoft Conference Review and Impressions There’s no doubt Bethesda is a powerhouse developer. I can’t even count the hours I’ve spent playing games in the ELDER SCROLLS and FALLOUT series. I don’t think I want to know. And don’t forget the likes of DISHONORED, DOOM, and WOLFENSTEIN. What I’m trying to say is that Bethesda is amazing. That said, this year’s E3 presentation was just meh. Understandably so considering how much they threw at us last year. They deserve a bit of a rest. Things kicked off with some VR...

E3 2017: Microsoft Conference Review and Impressions

E3 2017 is in full swing and the press conferences are coming in hot and fast! EA kicked things off and now it’s Microsoft’s turn to show off their goods. Things started off with the unveiling of the brand new XBOX ONE X formerly known as PROJECT SCORPIO. Personally, I would have stuck with SCORPIO as to not confuse buyers this holiday season. Think about it, there’s XBOX ONE, XBOX ONE S, and now XBOX ONE X! The X is the smallest one yet, but wouldn’t it make sense if the “S” was the smallest? And the differences between...

E3 2017: EA Conference Review and Impressions

E3 is hands down the most exciting time to be a gamer. New announcements, official release dates, kand big surprises are almost always in store. This week we will be getting huge press conferences from EA, Microsoft, Bethesda, Sony, and Ubisoft, with Nintendo kind of joining in on the fun with a livestream event at the tail end. And of course, countless third party and indie companies will be showing off their goods too. EA kicked things off this week showcasing what they have in store for us in 2017 and beyond. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big...

Marvel’s BLACK PANTHER Teaser Trailer Is Epic!

It’s about damn time we get a BLACK PANTHER solo film! I have been looking forward to this for a very long time and seeing this new teaser trailer just pushed my hype meter to the max! Of course we have already seen T’Challa/Black Panther in 2016’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR which, let’s be honest, was basically THE AVENGERS 3 or what AVENGERS 2 should have been depending on who you ask. Needless to say, Black Panther stole the damn show in that film and I absolutely cannot wait to see him front and center in his own film....

DESTINY (Pre-DLC) Video Game Review At a recent live-streaming event hosted by Bungie, tons of new and impressive details have emerged about DESTINY 2 including the first-ever gameplay trailer featured above. Top 5 Comic Book Picks For April 2017

1. ALIENS: DEAD ORBIT #1 / Dark Horse Comics Written by James Stokoe / Art by James Stoke With the release of ALIEN: COVENANT this month, Dark Horse is wise to release a brand new ALIENS comic. ALIENS: DEAD ORBIT is a 4-part mini-series from writer/artist James Stokoe. I dare anyone to look at that cover and/or flip through this book and not purchase this. Stokoe’s art is absolutely gorgeous and each panel is crafted with tons of nostalgic love and care. While I’m not too sure where the overall story is headed, this first issue hit all the right notes offering a...
