THE ORDER: 1886 Fashionably Late Video Game Review

After all the venomous attacks thrown at Ready at Dawn’s THE ORDER: 1886 over the past few months, I was worried that I wouldn’t even be able to finish the game despite how short the haters made it seem. Now, that being said, I can understand why some people might not like it, but, objectively, there are going to be many people who WILL like it that are afraid to try it.  I will spend a lot of time on gameplay to help you form your opinion of buying THE ORDER: 1886. Set in an alternate past, you play...

DIABLO 3: ULTIMATE EVIL EDITION Fashionably Late Video Game Review

I was extremely hesitant when my friends begged me to pick up DIABLO 3: ULTIMATE EVIL EDITION for my PS4. I really wasn’t sure it was a game I wanted to revisit.  However, I told myself, “Remember how awesome LOD was compared to DIABLO 2?”  So, I got the game, and I’m very glad I did. Let me provide a  smidgen of background information. When Diablo 3 came out for the PC in May of 2012, I immediately jumped at the chance to play.  Its predecessor had been the one game I always migrated back to when I was bored.  I remember...

DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION Fashionably Late Video Game Review

There is without a doubt in my mind that DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION is the best in the series.  If any RPG lover overlooked this game, then it stands that they are just missing out, period.  The story, the pacing, the variety, and the replayability are just some areas where Bioware succeeded to, well , blow my mind. Bioware starts us off in Thedus as with the previous two games in the series. Now, the first hour or two was very linear and I was reminded of some of the reasons why DRAGON AGE: ORIGINS frustrated me; I was worried about missing...

WE HAPPY FEW Announcement Trailer

After playing through Compulsion Games’ CONTRAST, I have wondered where this studio might head in the future.  CONTRAST wasn’t the most in-depth gameplay, but it certainly was innovative and fun.  When I saw the announcement of WE HAPPY FEW, I am chilled to think where they could take this dystopian world.  Although the trailer doesn’t show any gameplay (at least that’s what I infer), we get a sense of what the game might be.  After all, when brainwashed smiling faces want you to conform, you should probably conform, fight, or run away.  The only thing worse than zombies is people acting...

MIDDLE EARTH: SHADOW OF MORDOR Video Game Review

What’s better than lopping off an orc’s head?  Watching every head from the entire horde detach from their bodies, duh!  Curiously morbid.  WB Games and Monolith Studios successfully reskin the Batman: Arkham games into a Lord of the Rings game that plays more intuitive than Batman. It’s as simple as that. SHADOW OF MORDOR takes place sometime before the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and has a compelling story to help bolster this into a great game. I assumed the role of Talion, a captain at the black gate who; well, let’s just say he has a hard life – wait, did you...

INFAMOUS: SECOND SON Video Game Review

INFAMOUS: SECOND SON culminates into a sublime super-powered frenzy full of extreme moments. So lost had I become in the brilliant fray of combat and scenery that any moment of boredom brought on by the story in Sucker Punch’s new game was easily dismissed and replaced with utter joy. My first impressions positively mirrored my last impressions. The main constant in INFAMOUS: SECOND SON is just how beautiful the game is. From the very beginning I noticed that the crafted world is absolutely stunning; Reflections in the water puddles along the beach and just the right amount of foliage comprised a...

DESTINY BETA Impressions

The following impressions were from my experience on the Playstation 4 during the recent trial BETA test. DESTINY is Bungie’s new epic MMOFPS… Wait, sorry, new “Shared World Shooter.”  Epic in game-play and in budget.  Will it measure up to our past experiences with this studio? I certainly believe it is on the right track. This grand tale is set in the future after a spherical object, deemed the Traveler, with seemingly omnipotent capabilities is discovered by Mars, and spurs a golden age in technology advancement. Unfortunately, this Traveler has a hunter, the Darkness.  When the Darkness threatens to...
