News of a new season or a theatrical film for the cult favorite comedy ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT has been rumored ever since the show came to  premature end in 2006. Well it looks like the dust has settled and the bidding war for distributing a new season of the show has finally ended. Variety.com reports that none other than Netflix has struck a deal to showcase a brand new season of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT on its popular streaming service. Here is what producers Ron Howard and Brian Grazer had to say:

“Bringing a series back from cancellation almost never happens, but then, ‘Arrested’ always was about as unconventional as they get, so it seems totally appropriate that this show that broke the mold is smashing it to pieces once again.”

Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix adds:

“Arrested Development is one of the finest American comedies in TV history and its return through Netflix is a perfect example of how we are working closely with studios and networks to provide consumers with entertainment they love.”

Well there you have it my fellow nerds. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT is officially back. New episodes are projected to air in early 2013 exclusively on the Netflix Streaming service. This is definitely a step in the right direction for Netflix after the whole Qwikster debacle and the price hike. No news just yet on which stars will be returning even though it was made clear that all cast members will be offered their respective roles back. Let’s hope they all can return seeing how a lot of the cast already has projects on their slate.

Stay tuned for more details as they emerge.
